Scheepvaarthuis | Grand Hotel Amrâth

Scheepvaarthuis AmsterdamThe Scheepvaarthuis (Shipping House) is one of Amsterdam's best-known monuments. Architect J.M. van der Mey designed this building. The Scheepvaarthuis was built as a joint office for six Amsterdam shipping companies. The structure is one of the main examples of the Amsterdam School (the Dutch response to the Art Deco style).

Now it is the first class Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam. If you didn’t book a room, you can enjoy it’s interior and lunch, afternoon tea, or just a drink in the Bar-Lounge.

Don't forget to take a look at the beautiful main stair case!

Tuschinski Theatre

Tuschinski Theater AmsterdamThe Tuschinski Theatre is considered as one of the most beautiful cinemas in the world. Thousands of electric lamps, marble, stained glass windows and the exotic art create an overwhelming entrance.

The theatre of Abraham Tuschinski opened its doors in 1921. The style of the building and interior is a mix of three important styles of that era: Art Deco, Amsterdam School (the Dutch response to the Art Deco style) and Jugendstil. The interior is richly decorated with wall paintings, hand-knotted carpets, lamps and even beautiful covers for the heating panels. The main theatre also has a stage and an organ.

As of 1 April 2012 it is possible to book a tour to admire the beauty of the interior and get more information on it.
