Gift Shops

Are you looking for a nice souvenir or a gift to take home with you? Of course there are the many souvenirs shops along the Damrak and main shopping streets, but there are some special gift shops where you can buy your contemporary souvenirs, Dutch design gifts or other special gifts. We have also listed some special toy stores, not necessarily for souvenirs, but special enough to have a look there, for presents for the younger friends and family at home.

And don't forget to check out our recommendations for 'edible' gifts - such as cheese, chocolate and traditional Dutch candies - on our Speciality Food page. Our recommendations for souvenirs and gift shops in Amsterdam are:

Go to the details & reviews page of Jarig, gift shop & toy store in Amsterdam Jarig is a cute little gift shop in a little side street between the canals Singel and Herengracht. They call themselves a gift shop, but they are more a toy store. Though Jarig - in Dutch you say that someone is "jarig" when he/she has his/her birthday - has lots of gifts and toys for kids, some of their stuff is also suitable as silly gift for grown-ups.

Though on two levels, this shop on the Oude Leliestraat is not big. Nevertheless we are sure you'll find a nice toy or great little gift.

In this gigantic and towering space on the Westerstaat, the luxurious Moooi collection is displayed at its best.

Though most of the furniture do not fall under the category "gift" for most people - because of their size and price - Moooi also sells accessories, gadgets from Japan and architecture and design books, that can.

Go to the details & reviews page of The Frozen Fountain, designer furniture and home accessories shop in Amsterdam Although The Frozen Fountain is more a contemporary design furniture store, we still list them here, as they also sell some really cool smaller and affordable gifts. The Frozen Fountain offers great contemporary design furniture as well as beautiful designer home accessories. They have direct contact with the designers and can tell you a lot about the designers and the design.

When we pass by this shop - with or without international guests - we always go in, to see what's new. And we are never disappointed.

Go to the details & reviews page of The Gamekeeper, games and toys store in Amsterdam The Gamekeeper in the infamous De 9 Straatjes is more a games store than a gift shop or toy store. They have more than 1000 games, classic board games such as monopoly, chess or back-gammon, but also lots of other games. Some of the games come in a travel size format. Furthermore they have card games, puzzles and all kinds of game accessories, such as dices.

The staff is said to be ardent players themselves and that could well be as we found them very knowledgeable. And helpful.
