Go to the details & reviews page of Holland Festival in Amsterdam Holland Festival is the oldest and largest performing arts festival in the Netherlands (since 1947). Although the focus is on music and music theatre, the programme is full of performing art forms, such as theatre, dance and opera. But also visual arts, literature and architecture find their place in the varied programme.

Holland Festival is held in Amsterdam's most prestigious concert halls and theatres, including Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, Muziektheater, Stadsschouwburg and Koninklijk Theater Carré.

Go to the details & reviews page of Open Garden Days Amsterdam Every year in the third weekend of June, the Amsterdam Canal Museums organise the Open Garden Days. About thirty canal gardens will be open to the public. The gardens, hidden treasures behind the stately façades of canal houses, are true oases of peace and greenery. You will be surprised how big and beautiful these gardens are. At the same time it is a splendid opportunity to peek in some of the canal houses.

Each year the Open Garden Days are being organised around a theme.

Go to the details & reviews page of Over het IJ Festival in Amsterdam North Over het IJ Festival is thé site-specific theatre festival at the North shores of the river IJ. Dance, theatre and other art forms brings this festival alive around the IJ harbour. Performances can be seen in a shipyard, in shipping containers and in an old Russian submarine. Every year the IJ harbour transforms into a factory of creative productions and performances.

Take the free ferry behind Central Station to be transported to the vivid heart of the festival on the former NDSM wharf in Amsterdam-North.

Go to the details and reviews page of Amsterdam Gay Pride in Amsterdam Amsterdam Gay Pride is held in (the week before) the first full weekend of August. One of the highlights is the Gay Canal Parade on the Saturday. Around 80 floats sail along the Prinsengracht and hundreds of thousands people watch them pass by. The Canal Parade is the highlight of Amsterdam Gay Pride, but there are many other (cultural) events and parties during this week.

After Kingsday (formerly: Queensday), the canal parade is the biggest event for Amsterdam, with around 800.000 visitors from all around the world.
Go to the details & reviews page of De Parade Theatre Festival in Amsterdam Each Summer in August, travelling theatre festival De Parade visits Amsterdam for a few weeks, transforming the Martin Luther King park into cultural streets, lined with dozens of colourful tents. Over 60 different theatre-, music- and dance performances are staging several times a night. Besides the theatre you can also enjoy one of the many terraces with a cocktail, sushi, pastas, salads and more.

Take the De Parade boat from the Stopera and cruise to the Parade in a relaxed way.

Go to the details & reviews page of Loveland Dance Festival Amsterdam Amsterdam Dance Festival, Loveland takes place every year in park, Sloterpark. With over 50 international DJs (electro, house, techhouse, techno) spread over several stages, Loveland is a major event on the summer dance calendar.

The location, Sloterpark, is in Amsterdam West. There are shuttle buses from railway station Sloterdijk to the festival. Only persons of 18 years and older are admitted entrance to Loveland Festival.
