Winter Events & Festivals in Amsterdam

Visiting Amsterdam in Winter is ‘gezellig'/ 'cosy'. In December, January and February there are lots of events and festivals in Amsterdam. These are our favourites:
Go to the details & reviews page of Ice Skating in Amsterdam Besides skating on the canals - if the winter gets cold enough - Amsterdam has a number of outdoor ice skating rinks. A great location to practise your ice skating skills is at Winterplaza on Leidse Square. The location, the LED lights in the trees, the snow canons; it all adds to the cosy atmosphere that makes winter so beautiful.

Another great location for ice skating in Amsterdam is the reflecting pool on Amsterdam's Museum square, which becomes an ice skating under the name ICE*Amsterdam.
Go to the details & reviews page of New Year's Eve in Amsterdam Most Dutch people celebrate New Year's Eve with friends or family at home until midnight. As the clock strikes twelve, the city erupts in light and sound, as fireworks are set off all over the city. If you can, try to find a high point with views over the city, as you will see something you have never seen before.

The charming Jordaan neighbourhood has a more local feel, if you prefer that. Nieuwmarkt is especially wild, as this is the heart of Chinatown and the fireworks are plentiful and loud!
